South Korean 2010 Olympic figure skating champion KIM YUNA "helped unveil a set of commemorative coins" for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics on Thursday. The coins feature winter sports, such as South Korea's traditional "Gorosoi ski" on a 30,000 won ($27) gold coin, and short track speed skating, ski jumping and luge on the 20,000 won ($18) silver coins. They will go on sale Monday (REUTERS, 9/22). ... New Zealand rugby int'l KIERAN FORAN has signed a one-year deal with National Rugby League side New Zealand Warriors, however he still has "no guarantee of being granted permission to lace on the boots next season." The Warriors announced Foran's signing, believed to be worth A$600,000 ($453,285) for the one-year deal, on Thursday night "but are yet to register the contract with the governing body." The NRL has "several concerns over Foran's return to the NRL and his rugby league second coming would hinge largely on his ability to convince the game he has recovered from the mental demons that plagued both his personal life and rugby league career" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 9/22). ... United World Wrestling announced that the two Mongolian wrestling coaches who "stripped off in protest at the judging at last month's Rio Olympics have been suspended for three years." The Mongolia wrestling federation was also fined 50,000 Swiss francs ($51,366.34). TSERENBAATAR TSOGTBAYAR and BYAMBARENCHIN BAYARAA "undressed and hurled their shoes when their wrestler MANDAKHNARAN GANZORIG was denied victory for avoiding his Uzbek opponent in the dying seconds of a bronze medal contest" (REUTERS, 9/21).
