Hull City Begins Takeover Talks With New Consortium Fronted By Chien Lee

EPL side Hull City has "begun takeover talks with a new consortium fronted by Chinese American businessman Chien Lee," according to James Whaling of the London DAILY MIRROR. The prospective new owners "have jetted in to East Yorkshire to try and tie up a deal to take over the Premier League new boys." Lee and his group "want to strike a deal with the Allam family for the Tigers who have won two, lost one and drawn one of their opening four top-flight fixtures after winning promotion from the Championship last season." No agreement "has yet been struck but talks are ongoing after a bid from a group of investors from China and Hong Kong collapsed last week." Lee is the CEO of private equity company NewCity Capital and has lived in the U.S. for the last 30 years (DAILY MIRROR, 9/13). SKY SPORTS reported this new consortium "already has a controlling interest" in Ligue 1 side Nice, with Lee arriving in Hull to visit the club's stadium and facilities on Monday. The previous bid "fell through on Friday when the consortium's exclusivity clause came to an end," meaning the club was free to "meet other potential investors and buyers" (SKY SPORTS, 9/13).
