Australia's long-serving Winter Olympic Chef de Mission IAN CHESTERMAN has been elected Australian Olympic Committee VP "following the abrupt departure of JOHN COATES' loyal ally, PETER MONTGOMERY." Chesterman "was elected unopposed." The elevation of Chesterman is "uncontentious." He is a "senior, well-regarded figure within Australia’s Olympic movement" and has been a member of the AOC’s exec board since '01 (THE AUSTRALIAN, 9/13). ... Leicester City confirmed the appointment of EDUARDO MACIA as the club's head of senior player recruitment with immediate effect. Macia's experience stretches across spells in La Liga with Valencia, where he worked with current Leicester City Manager CLAUDIO RANIERI, as well as a spell with Liverpool. He has also worked with Greek side Olympiakos, La Liga side Real Betis and Italian side Fiorentina (Leicester City). ... The Rugby Football Union Nominations Committee unanimously proposed ANDY COSSLETT to be the next chair of the board of the RFU. Cosslett has served as an independent non-exec director on the RFU board. As chair of England Rugby 2015, he oversaw the successful delivery of the biggest World Cup in history. He was CEO of Fitness First and InterContinental Hotels Group, a board member of the exec committee at the World Travel & Tourism Council and a member of the President's Committee of the Confederation of British Industry (England Rugby). ... JOHN LANGFORD has been appointed VP and GM of The 02, taking up the position on Nov. 1. Langford joins the venue following three years in the position of director of live entertainment at The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Center in Glasgow, including The SSE Hydro arena. Langford will be responsible for the overall operational management, commercial delivery, event booking and content creation at the London venue. He will report directly to AEG Europe Senior VP Facilities RICHARD KREZWICK (AEG). ... The World Surf League named former PGA Tour Senior Dir of Business Development MAX NOVENA VP/global partnerships and GoPro Dir of Brand Partnerships MELISSA COLGATE senior director of partnerships (Lefton).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Eight months after joining Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais “as an advisor to President RENÉ RUELLO,” coach-consultant ROLLAND COURBIS has left his position with the club. Courbis said that he believes his “supervision of the integration” of CHRISTIAN GOUCUFF as manager is complete, and he “has no reason to stay.” Courbis said, “I can pursue a new challenge, in France or abroad, I don’t know. But I do not want my career to end” (20 MINUTES, 9/12). ... FILO TIATIA was named the new coach of Super Rugby side Sunwolves on Monday, "agreeing to a two-year contract." The 45-year old former All Black replaces MARK HAMMETT, "who he was an assistant to during the Sunwolves' inaugural campaign last season, in which they got one win, one draw and had 13 losses." Hammett has "moved on to the Highlanders where he will be an assistant coach" (KYODO, 9/12).
