National Rugby League side Manly Sea Eagles will "emerge from the match-fixing allegations with a new major sponsor as the club attempts to move on from a difficult year on and off the field," according to Adrian Proszenko of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. United Resource Management, a waste and recycling firm, will have "pride of place on the Sea Eagles jersey for all home fixtures" from '17. URM, already a Manly sponsor for two decades, will increase its investment "while the club attempts to recoup" the A$3.6M ($2.7M) it believes it is owed from Coco Joy. The club believes it has a "binding major sponsorship contract with Coco Joy for at least three seasons, with the parties likely to continue their legal dispute in the courts." URM has "stepped into the breach at a significantly reduced rate and Manly may seek to claim the difference in any future legal proceedings with Coco Joy." Having split the major sponsorship property in two, Sea Eagles officials "are now attempting to lock down a backer for its away fixtures" (SMH, 9/10).
