Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said that "there have been mistakes in Indonesia's sports management and that sports clubs should be strengthened." Ahok "expressed this view" during a meeting with 902 Jakarta athletes who will compete in the 19th National Sports Week (PON XIX) in Bandung, West Java, from Sept. 17 to 29. In his opinion, the money obtained from sports "should also go to the clubs, not just to the athletes they coach." He said, "Like in developed countries, sports clubs can produce adverts to pay athletes. Clubs should be strengthened as well, so that they can train more athletes, or even send them abroad" (JAKARTA GLOBE, 9/9).
Pink ball cricket is "the future." Indian national selectors Vikram Rathour and Saba Karim called it "the way forward." They have recommended to the Board of Control for Cricket in India that "one Ranji Trophy match every round be played with a pink ball." Karim said, "These are exciting times for cricket in the longer format. The pink-ball initiative is in the right direction." Rathour said, "The feedback from the players has been positive. I don’t think there are visibility issues. From our perspective, it is a great initiative and something different, something welcome. Basically good for the game" (THE HINDU, 9/11).
