Tottenham Set To Break British Attendance Record With Champions League Match

Tottenham is "set to break" the British attendance record for Champions League, according to Martyn Herman of REUTERS. The club said next week's clash with Monaco "will be played in front of the highest attendance for a Champions League game in England, with more than 80,000 tickets sold." Tottenham is using Wembley Stadium for its second Champions League campaign as White Hart Lane "has a reduced capacity owing to work on an adjacent new stadium." Tottenham Chair Daniel Levy said, "The response from our fans has been fantastic and is testament to just how big this football club is." London rival Arsenal also used Wembley for Champions League home matches in '98 and '99, "attracting crowds of around 70,000" (REUTERS, 9/9).
