German FA Generates More Than $10M With 2016 DFB-Pokal Final

The German FA (DFB) generated close to €9M ($10.1M) with this year's DFB-Pokal (German Cup) final, according to Holger Rehm of SPONSORs. The figure means the DFB "has been able to almost double the event's revenue over the past six years."  This year's final generated €8.794M ($9.9M) after taxes. The number does not include sponsorship or media rights revenue. In comparison to '10, the DFB was able to increase the event's revenue by about €4.6M ($5.1M). Of the close to €9M, 60% come from hospitality and 40% are ticketing. The main reason for the revenue boost "is the increased number of hospitality seats at Berlin's Olympic Stadium." The venue increased its hospitality seats from 5,995 in '10 to 8,600. DFB Head of Organization & Event Management Michael Kirchner said that the event is nearing the end in terms of capacity (SPONSORs, 9/8).
