Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu said that the club is "interested in creating a women's football team" to play in America's National Women's Soccer League, according to the London GUARDIAN. Bartomeu: "The women's football league here is very interesting. We're thinking about the option, in the future, of having our own team here, to compete at the maximum level, and to help us become more well known." The NWSL was "yet to respond to a request for comment." The 53-year-old president, who took over in '14 following the resignation of Sandro Rosell, also said that Barcelona had "plans to compete in futsal" in the U.S. (GUARDIAN, 9/7).
