ManU Fans Miffed Over Europa League Ticket Allocation

ManU fans have "reacted angrily after they were left with only 1,400 tickets for next week’s Europa League match against Feyenoord in Rotterdam," according to Paul Hirst of the LONDON TIMES. Feyenoord closed half of its 52,000-seat De Kuip stadium for the group game, over fears that it "will be punished" by UEFA for more crowd trouble. UEFA handed Feyenoord a two-year suspended sentence, which included a £42,000 ($56,000) fine and the threat of playing one game behind closed doors, "after ugly scenes marred the Dutch club’s Europa League second-round home game against Roma last season." Feyenoord therefore "closed the section of the stadium that usually houses the club’s ultras" for its Europa League games in order to "reduce the chances of trouble." A statement from the Manchester United Supporters' Trust said, "We don't see why our fans should be affected by the police concerns over home fans' behaviour and choosing to reduce their capacity for the match" (LONDON TIMES, 9/7).
