League Notes: Indian Super League Beefs Up Match-Fixing Security With Sportradar

The Indian Super League has "brought on Sportradar's Integrity Services division in the battle against match-fixing." Sportradar will monitor int'l betting markets for "suspicious betting patterns and assist in any investigations arising from this information." The ISL is India’s "new high profile league that is central to the top level reorganistation of the game in India, attempting to replicate the commercial and media success of cricket’s IPL that has revolutionised that sport worldwide" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 9/6).

CHINA-RUSSIA HOCKEY: China President Xi Jinping and Russia President Vladimir Putin "spoke highly of an ice hockey game played in Beijing between two professional teams from China and Russia on Monday night." Xi said that the game is "of great importance in boosting the cooperation between the two countries in winter sports." Putin "praised China for cherishing sports culture and attaching great importance to healthy life style, adding that this professional game will help popularize the sport" (XINHUA, 9/6).

COBALT TESTS: Racing Victoria Chief Steward Terry Bailey has admitted the rules of racing were not "strictly" followed in testing for cobaltRacing Analytical Services Ltd. wanted urine samples divided, "with one sent to Perth-based ChemCentre for cobalt testing and RASL conducting its own testing for other prohibited substances." Bailey said that he was "never told the two labs that carried out the cobalt testing -- ChemCentre and the Hong Kong Jockey Club laboratory -- did not have specific accreditation to test for the substance in equine urine" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 9/7).
