India's Premier Futsal Planning To Expand Season 2 Coverage To 40-45 Countries

After a "spate of roadblocks and bottlenecks," the Premier Futsal League "managed to deliver eyeballs in India and abroad," according to Urvi Malvania of the Indian BUSINESS STANDARD. Data released by the league revealed that it reached 50 million TV viewers globally "across nearly 10 countries and attracted close to 700 million views/interactions across media (TV and social media platforms) across 100 countries." The league now plans to take season 2 "to television sets of 40-45 countries." Season 2 will be held in the first quarter of '17 "with eight franchises and across four cities." The two new franchises to be added "are Delhi and Hyderabad." The league is financed by Xavier Britto of Indev Group of Companies and "is co-owned by a consortium that includes his wife Vimala Britto and other stakeholders and cricketer Virat Kohli." In season 2, the league "will focus on three areas -- technical investments in terms of production of the game, monetisation across sponsorships, franchise fees, broadcast and digital rights and corporate governance/transparency." The league is "seeing interest from auto and mobile companies for sponsorships" (BUSINESS STANDARD, 8/30).
