Event Notes: Italian Football To Hold Minute's Silence For Earthquake Victims

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced there will be a minute's silence for all games this weekend, "for the victims of an earthquake in central Italy." At least 120 people "have been killed after violent tremors near Perugia, with the towns Accumoli and Amatrice particularly badly affected." In a statement, the FIGC said, "The national teams which take the field today and in the coming days will also wear black armbands as a sign of solidarity" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 8/24).

MMA IN JAKARTA: Singapore-based mixed martial arts series ONE Championship will hit Jakarta at the end of August, "with a main fight scheduled between welterweights Luis Santos of Brazil and former ONE middleweight world champion Igor Svirid of Kazakhstan." ONE will also "feature other matches pitting Indonesian and international fighters to promote the championship in Southeast Asia." The fight will be themed "ONE: Titles and Titans" (JAKARTA GLOBE, 8/23).
