Spain's TVE Sees 72% Of National Population Tune In At Some Point During Olympics

Nearly 32 million people in Spain -- 71.8% of the country's population -- tuned "in to some portion of TVE's coverage of the Olympics," according to the EP. The most-watched events were the semifinal men's basketball game between Spain and the U.S. (2.9 million viewers, a market share of 31.1%) and the badminton final in which Carolina Marín took Gold (2.47 million viewers, a market share of 22.6%). This year's Olympics set several audience records for TVE, with Teledeporte recording a cumulative market share of 7.6% on the day of the semifinal tennis match between Rafael Nadal and Juan Martín del Potro. For "its part, Olympic content on the RTVE.es website received a total of 21.7 million visits from 6.3 million unique users," averaging 1.28 million visits from 781,000 users per day (EP, 8/22).
