Sponsors Like Nike Provide Athletes With Gift Bags Full Of Gear

If any of the athletes at this year's Olympics forgot to pack a bag for Rio, "they need not have worried," according to Calderwood & Burrows of the London DAILY MAIL. Sponsors are "showering them with goody bags." The "mad scramble by Olympic partners to have their products worn by athletes means that even if they don't win a medal, they will not go home empty handed." Nike's customized bags given to Brazilian and U.S. athletes include 40 items of training kit "such as jumpers, leggings, trainers and even flip flops." When "it comes to freebies, it looks like official sponsor Nike is doing most of the running." The brand customized bags given to every one of the 1,200 Team USA athletes and those from the host nation. Men are given "an extra watch, a pair of sunglasses and weights, while females receive extra workout clothes" (DAILY MAIL, 8/17).
