Argentine FA Announces It Will Delay Start Of Season One Week To Aug. 26

Argentine FA execs "decided to start the first division's season" on Aug. 26, a week after the scheduled start date, according to OLÉ. The reason for not starting this Friday is "due to a request from broadcasters, because with the Olympics running until Sunday, there are no signals available to transmit." There was "no consensus on whether the season will start with the first or second matchday, although the majority of clubs prefer it to start with the first matchday, with every game delayed by one week." This, however, "could change depending on what the Normalization Committee decides" (OLÉ, 8/16).
