National Rugby League side Penrith is searching for its third CEO in a year "after COREY PAYNE left the NRL club role after just four months in charge." Penrith on Tuesday released a statement saying Payne "had resigned and was pursuing an overseas business opportunity." Payne became the youngest club CEO in NRL history at 32 "and was expected to be groomed as a successor" to GM PHIL GOULD when signed (AAP, 8/16). ... Top14 side Grenoble Sporting Dir FABRICE LANDREAU will leave the club on Aug. 31, “seven years after joining the club.” Landreau had “already taken a step back” from his functions during the offseason. Landreau said, “I am relieved to have found a successor, BERNARD JACKMAN. This is the best solution for the future of the club” (RMC SPORT, 8/16). ... Liga MX side Santos Laguna sacked coach LUIS ZUBELDÍA just five games into the current season. The club is currently in second-to-last place in the league with two points (MEDIO TIEMPO, 8/15). ... Liga MX side Pumas UNAM announced that Argentine coach SERGIO EGEA will become the club's sporting VP (MEDIO TIEMPO, 8/15). ... The Argentine FA officially named JORGE MIADOSQUI its general secretary of the national teams. He replaces JUAN CARLOS CRESPI in the role. His role "will be important: it is worth remembering complaints by LIONEL MESSI during this year's Copa América about logistical issues" (OLÉ, 8/12). ... The Grand Prix Association of Long Beach named MARTIN BANNON director of marketing and sponsorship and RICHARD MARTINEZ manager of corporate sales. Bannon takes over for MIKE CLARK, who retired after 11 years (Grand Prix Association of Long Beach).
