Perform Group Appoints Lead Communications Agency For New OTT Service DAZN

London-based Perform Group "has appointed Hamburg-based Kolle Rebbe as its communications agency for DAZN," according to Nils Lehnebach of SPONSORs. Kolle Rebbe "will be the lead agency in charge of all communication measures for Perform's new OTT service DAZN to raise the product's awareness." The first campaign is called "Welcome to Premier League." DAZN is the EPL's exclusive rights holder in Germany. The campaign features English fans, who are "outraged" that they have to pay £40 ($51.50) to watch EPL games at home, while fans in Germany get them for €9.99 ($11.20). The campaign "includes online videos, along with banner and social media ads" (SPONSORs, 8/15).

RIGHTS CONFUSION: When DAZN launched last week, it advertised the Champions Hockey League as part of its rights package. However, on Monday, German sports network Sport1 secured the rights for the competition for sportsman media group, the CHL's exclusive marketing partner. Free-to-air TV channel Sport1 and subscription-based sister channel Sport1+ will show a minimum of 18 live games during the '16-17 season. The streaming rights went to Laola1.tv. Perform did not respond to a request for comment (SBD Global).
