Broadcasters Propose One-Week Delay To Start Of Argentine First Division

There is "still no concrete definition" of when the Argentine first division's upcoming season will begin, according to Maximiliano Benozzi of CLARÍN. It "was scheduled for Aug. 19, but it could be pushed back one week." The proposal came from the TV channels, which claimed "screen problems," although there is a contractual problem in the background. The Argentine FA Normalization Committee "expressed concern to clubs so that they would give a response to the request before the delay is accepted." As of Friday night, the AFA had reportedly received responses from 14 first division clubs, with nine wanting to start the season on the 19th, while "five others said they had no problem" with an Aug. 26 start date (CLARÍN, 8/13).
