Football Notes: Indonesian Sports Ministry Warns Football Organizer After Match Chaos

The Indonesian Ministry of Youth & Sport "issued football organizer Gelora Trisula Semesta with a warning" after it failed to prevent chaos during a match between PSS Sleman and Persinga Ngawi at Maguwoharjo Stadium in Sleman, Yogyakarta. A group of players "reportedly mobbed a match official during the game, which was part of the ongoing Indonesia Soccer Championship B" (JAKARTA GLOBE, 8/10).

South Wales Police "arrested 10 people on Wednesday following allegations of match-fixing in the Welsh Premier League." The arrests "were made following investigations on betting patterns on a match between Port Talbot Town and Rhyl on April 9" (REUTERS, 8/10).

Greek Alternate Minister of Sport Stavros Kontonis "threatened to suspend the upcoming football season unless FIFA appoints an interim administration at the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO)." According to the letter sent to FIFA, Kontonis stressed that the current EPO administration made the "illegal decision" to restructure the courts disciplinary committees. As such, he argued, unless FIFA appoints a new administration and a "purge" is carried out, the Alt. Sports Minister "will not greenlight the next football season" (TORNOS NEWS, 8/10).
