Argentine Clubs Demand More Money, Threaten To Delay Start Of Season

As of Wednesday, the Argentine football season -- scheduled to kick off on Aug. 19 -- "will not get started," according to LA CAPITAL. If "more money does not arrive from the national government, the future is truly unknown." On Tuesday, Federal A execs joined those from the B Nacional, who had "already decided not to start the season." Top-flight clubs "also showed solidarity." Next Tuesday, there will be another meeting with the AFA, "but the situation is critical and even if the start is approved, it will all be a topic to address as soon as possible." Meanwhile, "top-flight clubs are deciding whether to begin the championship on the 19th or not" (LA CAPITAL, 8/10).
