Sky Deutschland Draws 260,000 Viewers For 2nd Bundesliga Opener On Friday

German pay-TV channel Sky Deutschland "drew more than a quarter million viewers for its broadcast of the opening game of the 2nd Bundesliga season," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. The game between FC Kaiserslautern and Hannover 96 attracted 260,000 on Friday evening. In the target demographic 14-49, Hannover's 4-0 win obtained a 1.4% market share. Sky's match simulcast on Saturday afternoon had a 2.6% market share in the target demo as 200,000 viewers tuned in. On Sunday, the 2nd Bundesliga drew 190,000 viewers on Sky. The game between Greuther Fürth and 1860 Munich recorded 130,000 viewers and drew a 1.5% share in the target demo.

PRESEASON FRIENDLIES: German free-to-air sports channel Sport1 drew an average of 180,000 viewers for its broadcast of the friendly between Hamburg SV and Stoke City. In the target demo, the game obtained a 1.8% market share. The Int'l Champions Cup game between Liverpool and Barcelona on Saturday was watched by 200,000 and also had a 1.8% share. Pan-European network Eurosport recorded a 0.6% market share in the target demo for its broadcast of the Community Shield game. ManU's 2-1 win over Leicester City attracted 70,000 viewers (DWDL, 8/8).
