Gary Neville Returns To Sky Sports For Its Biggest Ever Season

Gary Neville will return to Sky Sports for the start of Premier League football in August with a new range of programming and experts. The two-time Royal Television Society winner is back at Sky Sports as expert analyst and commentator, taking his place alongside Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher, Jamie Redknapp and Graeme Souness. The former ManU defender will also join Carragher for guest appearances on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football. This season Sky Sports will show 126 matches, including 26 first picks. For the first time, Sky Sports will show up to 10 live matches on Friday evenings. Coverage of these fixtures will be presented by Jeff Stelling and Rachel Riley alongside guests from inside and outside the world of sport. David Jones will present Super Sunday and Monday Night Football, while Simon Thomas will host Saturday lunchtime matches. Hayley McQueen will present Game of the Day beginning at 8:30pm Saturday evenings, as well as live 3pm Saturday fixtures for viewers in the Republic of Ireland (Sky Sports). The London TELEGRAPH reported Neville "left his role with Sky to move into management but endured a torrid spell at Valencia that saw him win only 10 out of 28 matches before being sacked." He "was also part of Roy Hodgson's England coaching team during a nightmare European Championship campaign, which culminated in defeat to Iceland" (TELEGRAPH, 8/7).

Ryan Giggs

GIGGS TO CONTINUE ROLE: In London, Alex Bywater wrote Ryan Giggs "is set to continue his part-time punditry role with ITV in the new season" after his 29-year stint with ManU came to an end earlier this summer. Giggs "featured as part of ITV's Euro 2016 coverage." The channel seems "keen to utilise Giggs' standing as one of the most decorated players in English football history." He "is expected to work as a pundit for the World Cup qualifiers in September." Giggs "remains keen to try his hand at management, but the former winger is still waiting for what he sees as the right opportunity for him" (DAILY MAIL, 8/7).
