Media-Shy Olympique De Marseille Owner Addresses Club's Tender Process

Rarely seen in the media since taking control of Olympique de Marseille after the death of her husband, club Owner Margarita Louis-Dreyfus gave a press conference on Thursday “to take stock on the sale of the club,” according to LE FIGARO. Addressing recent rumors in the press, Louis-Dreyfus said, “We have read lots of things concerning the club. Some are true and some false. It is because of this that I am before you today, breaking from my usual discretion. I want to share with you my new plans for the club and to personally present the management as well as key elements of our strategy for the future.” She gave the conference with new club President Giovanni Ciccolunghi, Sporting Dir Gunter Jacob, General Secretary Cédric Dufoix and Manager Franck Passi. Louis-Dreyfus: “As I said in April, I have decided to sell OM, but this doesn’t mean that I’ve stopped taking care of the club. My priority is to find a new owner that will take proper care of the club.” When asked how long the process could take she replied, “Potential buyers take considerable time to analyze the complexity of the club. … I don’t know how long it will take. Maybe some months or some years.” Jacob said, “We all have the same ambition: to remake OM into a great club and regain the confidence of our supporters” (LE FIGARO, 8/4).
