League Notes: British Horseracing Revamps '17 Fixture List To Boost Attendance

There will be 71 more evening meetings next year after the British Horseracing Authority revealed a revamped fixture list for '17 that "it hopes will boost attendances and betting turnover." There will be a total of 1,496 meetings, an increase of 14 on this year, "which will make it the busiest" since '10. Twilight meetings, which were introduced to bridge the gap between afternoon and evening racing and encourage punters to stay in betting shops, "but proved unpopular with racegoers, have been cut to 48, from 105" (LONDON TIMES, 8/2).

NEW EXEC COMMITTEE: The Indonesian FA (PSSI) will hold an extraordinary congress on Wednesday "to find solutions to various issues after its suspension" by FIFA was lifted in May. There will be six points on the agenda, including the status of acting PSSI Chair Hinca Pandjaitan, and "plans for another congress to elect a new leadership." A new exec committee will also be selected during Wednesday's extraordinary congress, "as most PSSI stakeholders have indicated that they want it replaced completely" (JAKARTA GLOBE, 8/2).
