Barcelona announced record revenues of €679M ($746M) for the '15-16 season in its latest financial results, according to ESPN.com. The numbers were released on Monday, which saw the La Liga champion return a net profit of €29M ($32M) after tax, to put it "within target of the club's strategic plan" to reach revenues of €1B ($1.1B) in '21. Also included in the strategic plan is the "Espai Barca" renovation project for the Camp Nou and the surrounding area (ESPN.com, 7/26). The figures include the €30M ($33M) that the club will assume in the reversal of the sale of the land of Can Rigalt (Barcelona).
SEASON TICKET PRICES REVEALED: In Madrid, Xavi Hernández reported Barcelona VP Jordi Cardoner announced the prices for season tickets for the '16-17 season. The most expensive season ticket for the upcoming season will cost €1,097 ($1,205), while the cheapest one will cost €132 ($145). Cardoner: "Barcelona offers the best football at the best price." Cardoner also revealed that the club currently has 143,459 members -- 74% of those members are male and 26% are female, while 20% are under 15 years old. The "other interesting demographic was that 92% of Barcelona's members are Catalan." It was also noted in the press conference that supporters and members "will no longer be able to travel on the first team's plane, following on from the decision to stop the press from travelling with the team last season" (MARCA, 7/26).
KONAMI DEAL: Barcelona and Konami signed a global agreement on Tuesday in which the video game brand becomes a premium partner of the club for the next three seasons. The deal will see Konami launch a Barcelona edition of Pro Evolution Soccer that will be released alongside the European version of PES 2017 when it launches on Sept. 15 (Barcelona).
