The organizers of the Prudential RideLondon Classic confirmed that Tour de France winner CHRIS FROOME will take part in the one-day race on Sunday before flying to Rio for the Olympic Games. He will lead a Team Sky squad that includes GERAINT THOMAS, IAN STANNARD, BEN SWIFT, CHRISTIAN KNEES and Dutch sprinter DANNY VAN POPPEL. It will be the first time Froome has raced in Britain since the 2014 Tour de France started in Yorkshire (CYCLING NEWS, 7/25). ... V8 Supercars team Super Black Racing Founder & Owner TONY LENTINO died at his Wellsford, New Zealand home. Lentino, who was 42, died after a 15-month battle with cancer. He was "the driving force behind the all-Kiwi team which has competed full-time in the Australia Supercars V8 Championship for the last two seasons" after making a wildcard debut at Bathurst in '14 (STUFF, 7/25).
