Spanish Olympic Committee To Provide Athletes With App That Can Detect Zika

During the Rio Olympics, the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) will use a mobile app "capable of detecting sicknesses in tropical areas, especially zika," according to the EFE. On Tuesday, the COE signed a contract to use the app at an event attended Caixa Banking Foundation President Isidro Fainé and COE President Alejandro Blanco. Athletes will "use a test pilot, and if it works, it will be extended to non-athletes." The new app was created by Barcelona's Hospital Clinic, Barcelona's Institute of Global Health (ISGlobal) and Polytechnic University of Madrid (EFE, 7/19).
