Newcastle-based bank Virgin Money has been unveiled as ManU’s "latest signing as part of a new partnership," according to Coreena Ford of CHRONICLE LIVE. The bank "struck a four-year deal" to become the official retail financial services partner of ManU in the U.K. ahead of the '16-17 Premier League season. The new agreement means customers "will soon be able to take advantage of a range of attractive products" (
CHRONICLE LIVE, 7/18). In London, Jack Gaughan reported Virgin Money has become the "latest in a long line of commercial partners" at ManU. Virgin is the 15th financial partner the club has on its "ever-growing books, with almost 70 businesses from across the world linked to the club." That is "more than double any other Premier League side" and includes a nutritional supplements, ready-meal, outdoor apparel, noodle and casual footwear ally. ManU has an official feature film partner (20th Century Fox), "which saw them recently lend several stars for a special Independence Day mock film trailer," while HEROES serves as the official formal footwear partner. Then "there are official partners for beer (Singha), wine (Casillero del Diablo) and spirits (Aperol Spritz), an official confectionery partner (Eurofood) -- though only for five countries in south east Asia -- and an official soft drinks partner in Nigeria (CHI)" (
