Argentine FA Execs Reportedly Agree To Name Juan Sebastián Verón President Of Superliga

After the Argentine FA approved of a Superliga on Wednesday, it was expected that San Lorenzo President Marcelo Tinelli would preside over it, according to LOS ANDES. On Sunday, execs reached an agreement for Estudiantes President Juan Sebastián Verón to lead the Superliga. Nueva Chicago VP Daniel Ferreiro said that there exists "a consensus among first division teams" for Verón to take over the Superliga. Ferreiro referenced a meeting on Friday between AFA execs and government officials to reach an agreement on the money that the national government should return to clubs for the televising of games. He said, "It seems to us that the government's offer is very low. Football has an international value and the audiovisual rights of a league like the Argentine league have a value set by the market. We are trying to see if the government can increase this market value" (LOS ANDES, 7/17).
