Executive Transactions

London 2017 announced that double Paralympic Medalist STEF REID has been appointed to its board and VANESSA DAOBRY has joined the Inspiration Programme Board. Reid, who won Silver in the long jump T44 at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, has four other global titles to her name including European gold. Daobry recently made her int'l debut as part of the British team at the IPC Athletics European Championships in Grosseto, Italy (London 2017). ... EPL side Sunderland Football Operations Dir RYAN SACHS "will be leaving the club." Sachs has been at Sunderland for three years, having arrived in '13 to be former Dir of Football ROBERTO DE FANTI's assistant. He was later promoted to club secretary and "had a good working relationship" with LEE CONGERTON, who took over De Fanti's role. However, Congerton "also moved away from Wearside" during the '15-16 season. Congerton's departure "saw Sunderland get rid of" the director of football role, with Manager SAM ALLARDYCE and Head of Recruitment MARTYN GLOVER "having taken control of transfers instead." Sachs, who "once had a big hand in contract negotiations and transfer discussions, has understandably called time on his stay" with the club (VAVEL, 7/14). ... Brand and consumer expert GREG O'ROURKE has been named as the new A-League CEO. Football Federation Australia on Thursday announced the appointment of O’Rourke, who has spent the last five years as operations director for PepsiCo Australia and New Zealand. Also a former chair of Football NSW and president of Sutherland Shire FA, O’Rourke replaces DAMIEN DE BOHUN, who stepped down as CEO last month after four years at the helm (AAP, 7/13). ... MP & Silva announced the appointment of HAMPUS LÖFKVIST as director of sponsorship, Europe, with effect from July 25. His appointment bolsters MP & Silva’s focus on growing its sponsorship business unit and exploring new commercial and sponsorship opportunities in Europe. He has more than a decade of experience in int'l sports marketing, rights and licensing management and joins MP & Silva from the UEFA sponsorship programs, where he was sponsorship and licensing manager in the marketing division (MP & Silva).
