Bundesliga Side FC Schalke Generates Close To $1.1M In Profits During China Trip

Bundesliga side FC Schalke "has generated a profit during its recently concluded China trip," according to the Holger Rehm of SPONSORs. The club will receive €300,000 ($332,000) from the German Football League (DFL) for its Far East trip. In addition, the club generated "enormous" sponsorship income that resulted in profit of close to €1M ($1.1M) despite costs of €250,000 ($277,000) for the trip. The main purpose of the trip was to promote Schalke's brand in the country through PR events. The club also played two exhibition games and signed a partnership with Guangzhou R&F (SPONSORs, 7/12).
