Close To 30 Million Watch Euro 2016 Semifinal Match On German Public Broadcaster ZDF

German public broadcaster ZDF "drew close to 30 million viewers for its broadcast of the Euro 2016 semifinal between Germany and France," according to Kevin Kyburz of QUOTENMETER. The game attracted 29.82 million viewers starting at 9pm on Thursday. The number translated into a market share of 80.6%. In the target demographic 14-49, France's 2-0 win obtained an 85.6% share as 12.27 million viewers tuned in. The semifinal match "was the highest-viewed game of this year's European championship on German TV" (QUOTENMETER, 7/8). CB NEWS’ Thierry Wojciak reported the TF1 broadcast of the Euro 2016 semifinal match between France and Germany drew an average audience of 19.2 million viewers (68.8% market share), “its best audience in 10 years.” The match drew a peak audience of 22.2 million viewers. The number “represents the 8th largest audience of any channel and any program since 1989, and the largest audience since the 2006 World Cup” (CB NEWS, 7/8).

ATHLETICS IN AMSTERDAM: QUOTENMETER's Daniel Sallhoff reported German public broadcaster ARD recorded 3.03 million viewers for its broadcast of the European Athletics Championships. In the target demo, the track and field event from Amsterdam drew 560,000 viewers. The corresponding market shares were 13.2% and 8.1%, respectively (QUOTENMETER, 7/10).
