Olympic Notes: Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee Partners With EF Japan

The Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee welcomed EF Education First Japan Ltd. as a Tokyo 2020 official partner, the second domestic tier of the Tokyo 2020 sponsorship program. The company has been attributed the category "Language Training Services." Its addition brings the total number of Tokyo 2020 domestic partners to 39, including 24 official partners (Tokyo 2020).

Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) President Alejandro Blanco reassured the country's athletes and fans traveling to Rio de Janeiro that the zika virus "is under control." Blanco said, "It's under control. We are going to be the best Olympic committee without a doubt. We have help from the Institute of Global Health in Barcelona. We will monitor our athletes individually with a mobile application." Blanco said that "304 competitors were scheduled to compete for Spain in Brazil" (REUTERS, 7/7).

Sources said that the World Baseball Softball Confederation "will conduct an inspection next week of Yokohama Stadium as a possible venue for Olympic baseball and softball at the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo." The stadium "is emerging as the most likely candidate due to factors such as perimeter space for security barriers and media" (JAPAN TIMES, 7/7).
