IOC President Thomas Bach Says Buenos Aires Could Host 2028 Olympics

IOC President Thomas Bach said that Buenos Aires "would be an impressive host" of the 2028 Olympics, according to Sebastián Fest of LA NACION. It was in Buenos Aires, in '77, where Bach won a world championship in fencing and where he was named president of the IOC in '13. He is "likely to visit the country soon, but at the latest he will do so in '18," when Buenos Aires hosts the Youth Olympic Games. When asked whether he believes Buenos Aires can be the second South American city to host an Olympics, Bach said, "I have an emotional connection with Buenos Aires, so I have to be careful, but I believe there is no doubt that Buenos Aires would be capable of hosting an impressive Olympics. And I know what I'm talking about, because I was the president of the committee that evaluated Buenos Aires' bid to host the Games in '04, and I saw a great project then, but it was complicated politically at that time" (LA NACION, 7/5).
