Marketplace Roundup: Borussia Dortmund Announces Deal With China's Wow Sports

Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund announced a new deal to continue its "expansion into Asia." Chinese travel agency Wow Sports, which specializes in sports-related trips, has become the club's "official travel partner in China." The agreement runs for three years, until the end of the '18-19 season, and will see Wow Sports offer Chinese football fans "discounts on flights and accommodation for Dortmund home matches." Wow Sports will also collaborate with last season's German league and cup runners-up on its "upcoming tour of China," where the club will face English rivals ManU and Man City in the Int'l Champions Cup (SOCCEREX, 7/4).

BOCA WELCOMES HUAWEI: Argentine first division side Boca Juniors presented a two-year agreement with Chinese technology firm Huawei. The brand will have a presence on both shirt sleeves, at the stadium and in various pieces of Boca Juniors media and advertising (Boca Juniors).

HYPERCAR: Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing revealed their hypercar named AM-RB 001. The car is the product of a partnership between the luxury brand and the F1 team. The three men charged with realizing this shared vision are Red Bull Racing Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey, Aston Martin exec-VP & Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman and VP & Chief Special Operations Officer David King (Red Bull Racing). 


NIKE RENEWALLa Liga and int’l sponsor Nike renewed their agreement through at least ’19. The league also presented its official ball for the ’16-17 season. The partnership dates back to the ’96-97 season. La Liga also launched a new app on Apple TV, which allows fans to follow the competition. The app includes content from the official La Liga app and is in addition the existing products for iOS, Android and Windows (La Liga).

BRAZILIAN HERO: Brazilian digital security software company Hero "confirmed a partnership" with Brasileiro side São Paulo. The deal "will see Hero's logo placed on the upper-left corner of São Paulo's playing shirts" for the two legs of the club's forthcoming Copa Libertadores semifinal against Atlético Nacional of Colombia (SOCCEREX, 7/5).

Serie B side Vicenza agreed to a "two-year shirt sponsorship deal with Nordor Batterie." The Italian motor battery brand's logo "will appear on the top-left of the front" of the club's matchday jerseys. No financial terms were released (SOCCEREX, 7/5).

Premier League side Southampton and Under Armour revealed the first home and away match kits of their seven-year partnership. Club "super-fan" Ed Powell oversaw delivery of the first kits to St. Mary's Stadium after winning a competition. The new home kit features Southampton's traditional red and white stripes on the shirt, and the club's motto: "We March On" printed on the nape of the neck. The stripes appear in blocks of five to represent Southampton's five core brand values -- a style that is replicated in red and white-striped piping on the kit's black shorts. The same motif is also carried over to the club's away kit that features black and grey colors with a red trim (Southampton).
