Visa Unveils Newest Additions To Team Visa At Copacabana Megastore Grand Opening

Visa unveiled two new additions to its Team Visa roster at the grand opening of the Rio 2016 Copacabana Megastore on Thursday. Judokas Yolande Mabika and Popole Misenga, both members of the Refugee Olympic Team, joined Team Visa’s Brazilian Paralympic sprinter Terezinha Guilhermina at the store’s grand opening to showcase the payment provider’s Visa Payment Ring. To promote the company’s push for wearable payment systems, the athletes used the device to make their purchases at the store, which boasts 3,000 Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games-licensed products. Visa plans to fit all of its sponsored athletes with the payment ring. “It showcases Visa’s commitment to being secure, being convenient and showcasing acceptance of all kinds,” said Lara Balazs, senior VP and head of North America marketing at Visa. In addition to the new store’s Rio 2016-branded products, consumers can also purchase a Visa Rio 2016 commemorative prepaid card. The card features the two Olympic mascots and can only be purchased at the Olympic Park. The Copacabana Megastore is open to the public from Friday until Oct. 31.
