Iceland Outselling England On Euro 2016 Replica Shirt Sales In U.K.

Football fans "have purchased more Iceland shirts than England ones during Euro 2016," according to Aaron Flanagan of the London DAILY MIRROR. Despite having a population only slightly larger than Croydon, top British shirt retailer UKSoccershop revealed that it has "flogged more Iceland shirts than any other." Since the second round of group games were completed, 15% of all shirt sales "have been for Iceland jerseys." It beats its round of 16 opponent England by 3%. Iceland has "also sold over double the amount of shirts as the Republic of Ireland, Poland, Belgium, Italy and Spain." UKSoccershop Owner Simon Pretswell said, "Every tournament throws up a nation that the public falls in love with. At the last World Cup it was Colombia, in 2010 it was Uruguay. My job is to try and guess who that will be and make sure we have sufficient stocks in place. We took a big gamble on Iceland, but we were proved right and we've been the only place left with stock" (DAILY MIRROR, 6/27).
