Football Notes: Giant Screen In Plaça Catalunya To Show Spain Vs. Italy Match

Barcelona, Spain's Plaça Catalunya will have a giant screen showing the Euro 2016 match between Spain and Italy on Monday. The game will start at 6pm local time. The screen will be installed by political platform Barcelona con la Selección (AS, 6/26).

La Liga President Javier Tebas attended the 13th Supporters' Clubs' National Congress on Saturday and outlined the strategic plan for Spanish football. He also commented on the championship's name. Tebas: "La Liga will not have a single sponsor because it is our belief that the brand can be better served with several sponsors. The Liga Adelante will now be known as LaLiga2" (La Liga).

Chilean millionaire Leonardo Farkas sent 20,000 flags and the same number of hats for fans attending Sunday's Copa América final vs. Argentina. Farkas had promised before Chile's semifinal win over Colombia that if the team won, "they will run out of Chilean flags in New York" (NOTIMEX, 6/25).
