Mediapro Acquires Rights To Carry La Liga Free-TV Game On GOL

La Liga has awarded three rights packages for '16-17, '17-18 and '18-19 to Mediapro, according to Eduardo Fernández of EL MUNDO. The packages include a La Liga game on free-TV for €13.8M ($15.5M), free-TV summaries of La Liga and the Copa del Rey for €27M ($30.4M) and four second division games per matchday for €15M ($17M). This month Mediapro began broadcasting on free-TV channel GOL. The channel will replace TVE as the broadcaster of the free-TV game and the La Liga summaries. That game "will not feature teams participating in European competitions, or, in any case, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia or Atlético" (EL MUNDO, 6/21).
