Mexican Conglomerate Grupo Pachuca Acquires 80% Stake In Chilean Club Everton

Mexican conglomerate Grupo Pachuca "continued its int'l growth" by acquiring 80% of Chilean football club Everton, which will compete in the country's top tier after earning promotion, according to LA AFICIÓN. Grupo Pachuca President Jesús Martínez said, "It was very easy to make this decision. We have decided to name Pedro Cedillo as exec president of the organization. He will come along with Ignacio Hierro as sporting director and Jon Flamerique, who will lead the commercial and marketing area." Cedillo said, "I thank the Everton family for trusting us. We want to implement the same model that we have applied with other clubs. ... We will work day-to-day with all our strength because we want Everton to be the most important club in South America" (LA AFICIÓN, 6/20).
