The former Wales striker was jailed in '12 for raping a 19-year-old woman, "but had his conviction quashed by the Court of Appeal in April" (BBC, 6/20). ... Williams F1 announced driver KARUN CHANDHOK as its official driver for its Heritage division. In his new role as Williams Heritage Driver, Chandhok will focus on the testing and public demonstration of Williams' historic racing cars. He will make his first appearance as a Williams Heritage driver at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed (June 23-26), where he will drive up the Goodwood Hill behind the wheel of an FQ08C from '83 and an FW13B from '90 (Williams). ... British tennis player LAURA ROBSON's "injury woe continued as she withdrew from her qualifier at Eastbourne with a thigh problem." Robson began the match against MADISON BRENGLE, of the U.S. The 22-year-old "now faces a race against time to be fit for Wimbledon in seven days' time, where she has been given a wild card into the main draw" (LONDON TIMES, 6/20). ... One of the world’s leading middle-distance coaches, JAMA ADEN, "has been arrested in connection with a doping investigation in Spain." Police arrested the Somalian coach as part of Operación de los Mossos "in collaboration with the Spanish anti-doping agency (AEPSAD) at a hotel in Sabadell, 20km north of Barcelona, on Monday morning." A physiotherapist "who was in the hotel was also arrested." It is "understood EPO was found in one of the rooms" (London GUARDIAN, 6/20).
