More Than 13 Million Viewers Tune In To Watch Euro 2016 Match On Monday

German public broadcaster ARD "recorded a peak audience of more than 13 million viewers for its Euro 2016 coverage" on Monday, according to Robert Meyer of QUOTENMETER. The game between Italy and Belgium, which kicked off at 9pm, drew 13.27 million viewers. The number translated into a market share of 42.8%. In the target demographic 14-49, Italy's 2-0 win obtained a 49.4% share as 5.9 million viewers tuned in. The earlier game between Ireland and Sweden attracted 8.63 million viewers starting at 6pm. In the target demo, the 1-1 draw was watched by 3.22 million. The game had a market share of 36.6%, along with 41.7% in the target demo. The day's first matchup between Spain and the Czech Republic drew a 38.4% share as 5.2 million viewers tuned in. In the target demo, Spain's 1-0 victory attracted 1.52 million viewers and had a 36.9% share (QUOTENMETER, 6/14).

IN SPAIN: The EFE reported Spain's Euro 2016 match vs. the Czech Republic on Telecinco attracted an audience of 8.87 million viewers, which translated to a market share of 55.8%. The audience peaked at 4:48pm local time -- just before the game ended -- with 10.5 million viewers and a market share of 64.7% (EFE, 6/14).

IN FRANCE: MEDIA SPORTIF reported Euro 2016 "has become a strong vector for audiences for its official broadcasters," beIN Sports, TF1 and M6 in France. On Saturday, the Switzerland vs. Albania match broadcast on TF1 drew 3.35 million viewers and a 33.2% market share. M6's broadcast of the England vs. Russia match drew 5.7 million viewers, translating to a 26.8% market share. Sunday's Turkey vs. Croatia match shown on TF1 was seen by more than 4 million viewers, translating to a 30.9% market share. TF1 also broadcast the Germany vs. Ukraine match, drawing 6.75 million viewers and a 27.3% market share. M6's broadcast of Monday's Belgium vs. Italy match drew 7.13 million viewers, translating to a 28.8% market share (MEDIA SPORTIF, 6/14).
