Budweiser To Give Away 'Infused' Beer In Euro 2016 Social Campaign

Budweiser will next week run a social campaign to give away a batch of its beer that was "infused" with "the passion of England football fans" in a number of cities, according to Sam Burne James of CAMPAIGN LIVE. Former England players John Barnes and Graeme Le Saux "accompanied a tanker of Budweiser on a tour across several locations, including a brewery near Preston," to meet fans and the official England Supporters Band. The fans were invited to touch the tanker, and to sing and whistle at it, "literally filling the brew with their supporter pride and passion," according to a press release by Budweiser's retained U.K. agency 3 Monkey Zeno, which handled the activation. The first Budweiser Made by Fans bottle "rolled off the production line later in the day, and next week the batch will be given away by the brewer via its social channels," starting the conversation on the hashtag #ThisBudsForYou. This will be handled by social and digital agency Elvis. Budweiser is joining "a number of booze and other brands kicking off their Euro 2016 PR activity" (CAMPAIGN LIVE, 6/13).

HISENSE ENTERS FOLD: Chinese TV brand Hisense announced the formal sponsorship of Euro 2016. The first Hisense advertisement appeared in front of football fans worldwide at Paris Saint Denis on Friday. It was the first time UEFA has had a sponsor from China in its 56-year history. Ads from Hisense will appear in all 51 rounds of the tournament. The Hisense logo will be featured on tickets and official background displays. Furthermore, 4K TVs and 4G smartphones from Hisense will also be used. In each of the 10 host cities' fan zones, Hisense has an exclusive exhibition booth (Hisense).

'SHOT ON IPHONE': CAMPAIGN LIVE's Shona Ghosh reported Apple has marked the kickoff of the Euro 2016 championship with a spot "showing the beauty of football," as part of its ongoing "Shot on iPhone" campaign. The ad is soundtracked by Little Sims' Wings, and showcases a montage of "football-related shots by iPhone users." The spot is part of Apple's long-running "Shot on iPhone" campaign. Apple has just released "a spate of new ads for the campaign, with the football spot being shown in Europe" (CAMPAIGN LIVE, 6/13).
