Ronald Koeman has agreed to become the new manager of Everton, "in a deal financed by the club’s new owner Farhad Moshiri, with Southampton now considering either Eddie Howe or the Sevilla manager Unai Emery as his replacement," according to Wallace & Bennetts of the London TELEGRAPH. Southampton offered to make Koeman the "highest-paid manager" in its history with a two-year extension deal that would have taken his contract to '19. The club was "unaware that Koeman had changed his position and wanted to leave until Thursday when reports in Holland indicated that there was a major change of heart from the Dutchman." Howe has "long been admired by Southampton and is a bright young manager" whom the club feels could work within its recruitment structure. Koeman left on holiday on Saturday with the "compensation deal between Southampton and Everton not yet agreed." The salary being offered to Koeman by Everton is around £7M ($10M) with a promise of £100M ($145M) "to spend in the market." Whether that £100M "is on top of any sales made this summer and whether or not it includes wages as well as fees will emerge over the summer" (TELEGRAPH, 6/4).
