The redevelopment of Liverpool's Main Stand at Anfield "is continuing at a steady pace with the removal of the exisitng roof now under way," according to Elliott Bretland of the London DAILY MAIL.
The club released images on Thursday, showcasing the latest progress as the Reds get the stand ready for the start of next season. With 8,500 seats "to be added to the main stand, the new Anfield capacity will increase to 54,000." The expansion is set to "comprise three tiers, a widened player tunnel, new team benches, wheelchair viewing positions and state-of-the-art facilities for fans inside." It will also create more than 1,000 "new matchday roles at Anfield." The new stand is so high, escalators "have been installed on every level to ensure fans can get to their seats with the maximum ease and comfort."
Although the spectator seating "is expected to be finished for the start of the new campaign, finishing the back-office departments will take longer."
As a result, both home and away teams "will have temporary dressing rooms housed in the new underground car park of the stadium for a number of months" (DAILY MAIL, 6/2).
