Event Notes: Japan To Play Final Olympic Football Warm Up Against Brazil

The Japan FA announced that its U23 team "will play Olympic host Brazil on July 30" in Goiania, Brazil in its final warm-up for the Rio de Janeiro Games. Japan "kicks off its Olympic campaign against Nigeria on Aug. 4 in Group B in Manaus, where it will also play Colombia three days later." Japan Manager Makoto Teguramori said, "The timing of the game (against Brazil) is really important when you take into the account the significance and difficulty of our first game at the Olympics" (KYODO, 5/31).

Naples, Italy has been announced "as host of the 2019 Summer Universiade (World University Games)." After Brasilia, Brazil pulled out of hosting "due to not being able to meet financial commitments." Naples "was the only replacement candidate to enter the bidding." Italy has "significant experience with the event," having hosted four previous Summer Universiades in '59, '70, '75 and '97 (SWIMSWAM, 5/31).

Tickets are now on sale for the 2016 FIA Formula E HKT Hong Kong ePrix. The electric racing series will be taking to the streets of Hong Kong for the first time in October, with an array of support events over the course of 2 days on the Central Harbourfront (Oct. 8-9) (Formula E).
