Olympic Notes: Panasonic Launching Global Marketing Activities For Rio

Panasonic, an official worldwide partner for the 2016 Olympic Games, announced it will launch a variety of global marketing activities in its sponsorship category. Panasonic signed a partnership agreement with Sugarloaf Mountain located in the Urca district of Rio de Janeiro, a close neighborhood of Copacabana to set up and open its corporate pavilion, called "Stadium of Wonders," from Aug. 7-21. Panasonic also entered into an AV technology partnership agreement with Rio 2016, as Technical Partner of the Torch Relay to facilitate the torch relay for the first time in its sponsorship history (Panasonic). 

The mascot for 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics is "likely to be unveiled in June" after the IOC meeting, an official from the event's organizing committee said Friday. The official said that the mascot for South Korea's first ever Winter Games "will be determined at the IOC's Executive Board meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland" June 1-3 (KOREA HERALD, 5/20).
