Marketplace Roundup: Eni Signs Deal With Italian FA To Sponsor Country's National Teams

Oil and gas company Eni has been unveiled as a major partner of the Italian FA (FIGC), "sponsoring all of the country’s national football teams." The deal, which will run until '18, "will see Eni support the Italian national men’s, women’s and youth teams," and will cover the men’s senior team during Euro 2016 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia (SOCCEREX, 5/19).

BACKSIDE SPONSOR: League Championship side Leeds United signed a deal with Clipper Logistics as the club's new official secondary shirt sponsor. The company’s branding will be featured on the back of all Leeds United '16-17 playing kit and replica shirts. The new deal represents the second sponsorship agreement between the two parties, following the recent announcement of Clipper’s sponsorship of the East Stand at Elland Road (Leeds United).

TRAINING ACADEMY: Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg has partnered with Chinese tire company Shandong Linglong to open a training camp in Shandong, China. The club will open the training center in September, aimed at young Chinese players between six and 12 years old. Wolfsburg will also take three children from the training camp over to Germany for every game at the Volkswagen Arena in the '16-17 season (VfL Wolfsburg).

KEEPING THE TIME: Japanese watch manufacturer Seiko announced it would extend and enhance its partnership with Australian Rugby for another two years. Seiko has been the official watch supplier of the Qantas Wallabies for the last three years. In the new two-year deal, Seiko will continue supplying prizes to the Qantas Wallabies Man of the Match, and will have an increased match-day presence through LED signage, program advertisements and big screen TVCs (ARU).

MARKETING BRIEFS ... 

ManU signed a partnership with Banco Guayaquil, which will receive exclusive financial services rights in Ecuador. To mark the partnership, Banco Guayaquil is launching a new ManU credit card for its customers (ManU).

Second Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld renewed its partnership with SO-Tech. The online retailer will increase its involvement and receive ad space on LED boards in camera view at the SchücoArena. SO-Tech has been a partner of the club since last season (Lagadère Sport).

The German Volleyball Federation (DVV) and its main sponsor Layenberger Nutrition have mutually agreed to end their partnership at the end of the year. Layenberger has been a partner of the DVV since '14. The company will shift its focus toward football after signing a deal to become the shirt sponsor of 2nd Bundesliga club Union Berlin with the start of the '16-17 campaign (DVV).

Ligue 1 side Nice and sportswear manufacturer Macron have signed a kit deal for the next three seasons. The French club will wear the Italian brand at the start of the '16-17 season. Macron will unveil the jerseys on July 1 (OGC Nice).

Telecom Otelo renewed its shirt sponsorship deal with 2nd Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf. Otelo, a subsidiary of global telecom Vodafone, has been the primary shirt sponsor of Fortuna since the '12-13 season, and its contract was set to expire at the end of the current campaign. The renewed deal will run for the entire '16-17 season (Fortuna Dusseldorf).

The Rugby Players’ Association confirmed U.K. insurance provider ProSport Insurance will continue as the title sponsor of the annual RPA Rugby Open which takes place on Wednesday at the Stoke Park Golf and Country Club in Buckinghamshire (RPA).

Sunsail has signed on as a sponsor of Paralympic sailor Helena Lucas as she prepares to defend her London 2012 Gold Medal in Rio this summer (Sunsail).
