Carlsberg UK appointed former Landor Associates Exec Dir LIAM NEWTON "to the newly created role of vice president marketing." Newton "is a drinks industry marketing veteran, having held senior roles at InBev, Bacardi Martini, and UK distribution partnership Bacardi Brown Forman Brands before joining Landor in 2014." He "also spent six years at Nestle Rowntree." He succeeds Interim Marketing Dir DAVID SCOTT, "who left Carlsberg last month after nine years with the company." Carlsberg confirmed that former Marketing Dir DARRAN BRITTON "left the company last year" (CAMPAIGN LIVE, 5/19). ... RENÉ FASEL "has been re-elected as president" of the Int'l Ice Hockey Federation, continuing his 22-year spell in charge. Fasel "ran unopposed and was elected unanimously at a congress in Moscow." He said that "there will be no major changes to the IIHF's strategy, pledged to work to reduce concussions among players and reaffirmed his desire for NHL players to continue playing at the Olympics" (TSN, 1/19). ... The USTA named Aeropostale Senior VP/Global Marketing AMY CHOYNE CMO. Choyne will begin in her new position May 31. She fills the vacancy created when former CMO SUE HUNT left the organization in December (USTA). ... Foot Locker elected company President & CEO RICHARD JOHNSON BOD Chair. Johnson succeeds NICHOLAS DIPAOLO. Foot Locker also elected DONA YOUNG BOD lead director (Foot Locker). ... LeSports announced that VP of Strategy YU HANG has been appointed COO of LeSports, reporting directly to LeSports CEO LEI ZHENJIAN. Yu will be in charge of a number of key areas that include: overseeing operations of the user engagement center; responsible for growing the number of VIP subscribers and subscription revenue; launching products and services specifically customized for VIP subscribers, and improving overall user experience (LeSports).

FROM THE PITCH: Former Croatian int'l captain ZVONIMIR BOBAN was announced as the "newest member of FIFA President GIANNI INFANTINO's office." The former AC Milan midfielder will be "a special advisor on football matters to FIFA's top man." Since retiring from football in '02, Boban writes for Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti and "writes columns and football articles for Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport," as well as working as a football analyst for Sky TV in Italy (CROATIA WEEK, 5/19). ...

COACHES/MANAGERS
: Belgian second division side Royal FC Antwerp announced FRED VANDERBIEST as its new head coach starting next season. The 38-year-old managed second division side Cercle Brugge during the ’15-16 season, and on Wednesday Cercle Brugge “officially ended his contract.” Vanderbiest “signed a one-year contract with Antwerp” (LA MEUSE, 5/19). ... League Two side Northampton Town appointed Port Vale Manager ROB PAGE as its new boss "on a three-year contract." The 41-year-old former Wales defender "had been in charge of Vale since October 2014 and led them to a 12th-placed finish in League One this term." The Cobblers "agreed compensation with Page's former club" and he replaces CHRIS WILDER, who left last week (BBC, 5/19).
