Barcelona Reportedly Close To Extending Deal With QSI For One Season

A "sharp turn at the last minute, something that Barcelona has been hoping to reach with the Qatar government, could see the club wear the Qatar Sports Investments logo for one more season," according to Moisés Llorens of AS. In recent years "the club wore the logo of Qatar Airways and prior to that it was the Qatar Foundation." Sources close to the club said that Marketing VP Manel Arroyo and President Josep María Bartomeu "are working on a proposal that is not what Barcelona initially desired, but would give the club time." Barça execs "could be convinced to accept a one-year deal, but they are looking to leave the door open to continue the talks." The sources did not give the value of the deal for Barcelona, "although it is expected" that it will exceed the €35M ($40M) per year that the team has received each of the last five seasons (AS, 5/17).
